Practice

Match the system to the problem. Make it nice to live with.

Small team, real constraints. We usually start with three questions: who is this for, what stays private, and how do we know it's working after launch week?

A quote from a colleague about working with AD STEM Lab.

How a project usually goes

1. Listen

Learn the constraints — clinical, legal, commercial, or just practical. Name the outcomes and who inherits it.

2. Build

Small steps, shown early. We'd rather show something honest than a demo that only works on one laptop.

3. Hand off

Docs, runbooks, code your team can change. Handoff is part of the job, not an afterthought.

What people ask us for

Systems design, product engineering, keeping infrastructure from falling over. A store with inventory and payments. A migration that stays up. A pipeline that doesn't quietly break. An interface that doesn't get in the way.

A lot of what we build disappears into the systems it serves. That's usually fine.
